Owls and kittys and deer, oh my! Susanne Ostwald and Ingvar Helgason are the designers behind Scandinavian label, Ostwald Helgason. I am loving these quirky animals, especially those two outfits on top which I would wear in a heartbeat!
Doe Deere (a.k.a. Xenia V.) has got to be the coolest girl I’ve never met (I hope I do meet her one day!). She does everything…fashion design, photography, she is a make-up artist, a model, and she is a talented musician, with an album out now called Supernatural which you can buy through her myspace page.
I check her blog every now and then, and yesterday I was excited to find out she now has a new blogazine which I have already bookmarked and plan to read.
These are some photos from her flickr which will tell you a story. Based on these 4 pictures can you guess what the story is about?
On the Free People blog there is a post by a Free People girl who created her own corset tee based on my tutorial! I am so excited to see what others are coming up with! If you have created one e-mail them at
as well as me at
!
I rode my bike to the park today and once there, sat at a picnic table writing in my journal (pondering life as usual…always the sensitive soul which can be both a good and bad thing). Eventually I just reclined on the bench and looked up at the leaves.
If today had a song and a mood it would be Happiness by Goldfrapp.
About this time last year I discovered my favorite ever flats, the “Heidi” by rsvp brand. I wore them so much that finally they fell apart. Now usually I don’t re-buy the same exact shoe a second time, but I loved these so much I just had to. Sadly the only place left to buy them only had a size 8.5 in a brown (a full size smaller than my last pair!). But the good news is they were on sale for $25 instead of $70 like before so I thought what the heck, I decided to give them a try.
Turns out these $3 shoe stretchers I bought at the thrift store actually work! That and I stuffed a bunch of socks in them. So if you ever have this problem with any of your shoes, give it a try because it might just work!

What I Wore Today (day 2)
I should have drawn my best friend Heath in this picture too because I was with him pretty much all day and he dresses cute. We ate pizza in the park then walked around going to various garage sales. I know some people may think that sounds boring, but I can assure you that when you have a friend as sassy and charming as he is, everything is fun! Besides, garage sales are fun because you never know what you will find! One person’s trash is another’s treasure, and I should know since I recently found a Prada skirt when thrifting! woohoo!
Check out my new best friends in the world, Rock Paper Vintage! Based in New York City, they gather truly unique vintage pieces that you won’t find anywhere else. Not only that, but they present the items in a very cool way (think Nylon magazine), and they are the sweetest people! Check out their store right here!
Since I love both fashion and drawing, I decided to do a little daily project for fun. Each day I will take a photo of what I am wearing and do a sketch of it! I am not sure how many days I will keep this up, but I will aim for one month.
and in honor of my “Wild Strawberry” necklace, I give you PNAU:
I like to dabble in all art forms, including those I know little about like photography. Yesterday I used a lace vest and bobby pins to make myself a little couture hat -thingy. Lace and red lipstick make any day better!
There’s something about old photos that I find a bit creepy. These are no exception.
Although, give me a moment to get over the ghostly eeriness, and I will tell you that these photos (from 1927) are actually kind of cute too. I mean here we have a 4’10” Anna Pennington (who wore a shoe size 1 1/2!) teaching ol’ Felix how to dance. What could be so creepy about that, right? Actually the blog where I found these, has quite a few great pretty pictures from screen stars of the 20’s and 30’s.
