“We wanted to turn the fussy, Waspy world upside down,“ said Libertine designer Johnson Hartig (part of a duo, the other designer being Cindy Greene). They also kept the economy in mind and said it forced them to be more creative (i.e. using screen printing). I like it! Although why pick on Wasp‘s as a sterotype? Just because we’re White Anglo Saxon and Protestant doesn’t mean all we’re stuffy snobs, geez! A cute collection, I especially like the queen screen print sweater and the outfit with the patches.
I fell in love with this vintage floral rose printed fabric! It was originally part of a hideous 1980’s “Sunday School dress” which had shoulder pads the size of Big Macs, a HUGE lace collar, and some major gold buttons. But I bought it anyways and turned it into something I think is pretty cute! It’s sort of “Gretel goes to Betsey Johnson”, one part poor little servant girl, two parts flirty femme. 100% made with love!
Note: blue pin striped corset is not made by me, it’s from Forever 21.
A Ninkybink Original! This dress is made from scratch of scarlet red satin with a white satin ruffle trim. There is a delicate white tiny butterfly trim and an open back!
For Christmas one of the gifts my boyfriend gave me was a Flip Video, which is a mini digital camcorder that holds up to 60 minutes of footage. It has all of the software built into it and all you have to do is plug it into a usb and you’re ready to go! I have never “made films” before but I found this gadget to be extremely easy to use, and fun! Since those balloons are still hanging around from Valentines Day, I used them as a prop in my little experimental film/ commercial.
“Fifty-one designers, including many household names such as Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Diane Von Furstenberg and the London-based red carpet specialists, Marchesa, made specially-designed outfits, to celebrate Barbie’s half-century anniversary.
The show opened with a visual biography of the Barbie story, complete with pink dream home and pink Corvette convertible, and flashed onto a heart monitor beeping into action to signal the doll was coming to life.
The extravagant pink curtains then opened to reveal a model dressed exactly as the very first Barbie, in a black and white zebra-print, sequined swimsuit and her blonde hair combed into an oversized ponytail…“ read more
I love it, it’s adorable! No matter how old you are, you can always love Barbie! I know I am a Barbie girl for life!
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.“ —1 Corinthians 13:4-7
I am so thankful to God for His love and for providing me with the people in my life who give me so much happiness, support, and love. I don’t know where I would be without this support system of family and friends! Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
Today I made a heart cake and bought a ton of heart shaped balloons to celebrate!
