Today my boyfriend and I went to MacQueen Orchards for the first time. At the entrance way to the orchard, we were asked, “Bushel or half bushel?“, and went with “half bushel”, not fully knowing what that sort of measurement unit looked like. Turns out, in a half bushel we were able to fit a little over 50 apples! Holy smokes! I don’t know what we’re going to do with this many apples, but I’m sure we can give some away to our mothers to bake with. On top of that, we got some fresh apple cider and homemade apple fritter! It’s certainly starting to seeml like fall.

While in Chicago I decided to spoil myself a little and buy a new jacket from one of my favorite clothing brands, Free People. This coat is more like a sweatshirt than it is a winter/ fall coat in my opinion. It’s made of thick stretch material and the “stitches” are printed on, not woven into the fabric like I thought at first glance. I love the way it drapes around the neck and that it has pockets. My biggest complaint is that it has no buttons to close it, and it seems it needs some. Also, online and in the catalog the coat appears to be black and white, when in real life it’s grey and white. However after a long debate between trying to decide between this jacket and another one they had in the store, I chose this one because it is so unique, and the closure problem can easily be solved with a belt which I like the look of anyways. Not only is this as comfy as a worn-in sports hoodie, it looks a heck of a lot classier and it’s surprisingly versatile despite the busy peakcock print!

It’s obvious which is fake! hehe! That’s one thing I like about their ads…they are so simple and use “real” non-model models with curves/ muscles much of the time.
I just received the “Printed Cotton Spandex Jersey Double U-Neck Long Sleeve Bodysuit” from American Apparel in the mail, and I have to say…American Apparel has done it again! I love it! I bought this bodysuit because it’s got a fantastic “French Actress” vibe to it (i.e. Brigette Bardot), it’s got a sexy low U shape in the back, and it’s going to stay nicely tucked in. After reading the many reviews on the website, I listened to what the consensus of customers were saying (it runs small) and ordered a medium. I’m glad I did because any smaller and I don’t believe it would have fit in the shoulders. The one concern someone may have with this leotard is that it has rather high cut leg holes. You will not be able to wear this under just any pair of pants or skirts, rather, you’ll probably want to opt for high waisted styles. Personally, I have no problem with that since I love the retro vibe of high waisted pants and skirts. I like these red ones from ModCloth by Bettie Page Clothing, these black capris by Deadly Dames from Pin Up Girl Clothing, or my favorite black high waisted pants which are also by AA.
Speaking of American Apparel, did you know they might be going bankrupt? Guess we’ll have to wait and see…it would be a shame!
Leotards are fairly hot.
If you like this review, also check out this one (Nautical Playsuit), this one (“The Doll” Bellbottoms by Jbrand), or this one (50’s style, button-down-the-back blouse)

Vivian Kate is a new upscale contemporary boutique located in Levis Commons (in Perrysburg, Ohio). Come by the art fair that’s happening this weekend, and pick up one of my Ohio necklaces which will be available to purchase there! It’s a gorgeous boutique visually, and the clothing is darling! If you are not able to come in person, please check out their website, www.viviankate.com. I am especially loving this and this!
Friday, July 09, 2010Running “Barefoot” in the Rain
Every Thursday at 6:30 pm, the running store Second Sole hosts a group run which is free for anyone who wants to show up and run 3 miles (or more, in some cases). You can find out more information on their facebook page. Last night was especially enjoyable because the temperature dropped from 90 to 76 with a refreshing heavy rain pouring down on us. On top of that, I was running in my new “Bikila"s by Vibram Five Finger, so I felt as if I was running barefoot in the rain. Now that is a great feeling! By the way, I love the Bikila’s! They may be rather weird looking, but I prefer them for running to my traditional athletic shoes any day.
Friday, May 07, 2010“Pins & Needles Piped Sailor Romper” from Urban Outfitters ReviewThis is a playsuit/ romper I ordered from Urban Outfitters ( click here ) Though it is marked in the catalog as being made by “Pins & Needles” it’s label actually states it’s made by “Kimchi Blue”. I love that this looks very 1940’s pin up girl-ish. It’s very comfortable and lightweight. My only problem with it is that it does take an awful lot of ironing. I even ironed it before wearing it, and it needs it again. It’s one of those things that I can’t get away with as well in Ohio as say, in NYC, but I’ll wear it anyways because I love it. *Update- Cool! This review became featured on their site! Love U.O.!
