Felix is taught to do the “Black Bottom”
There’s something about old photos that I find a bit creepy. These are no exception.

Although, give me a moment to get over the ghostly eeriness, and I will tell you that these photos (from 1927) are actually kind of cute too. I mean here we have a 4’10” Anna Pennington (who wore a shoe size 1 1/2!) teaching ol’ Felix how to dance. What could be so creepy about that, right? Actually the blog where I found these, has quite a few great pretty pictures from screen stars of the 20’s and 30’s.

Six-Word Memoirs
Short, sweet, and to the point. Can you sum up you life in six words and a picture? Check out what 25 other people came up with here, excerpted from Not Quite What I was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs from Writers Famous and Obscure.

The Vintage Society
This is another blessing brought randomly to my attention through Google Image search, The Vintage Society. I am especially loving the editorials section, as well as the “Society Girl of the Week” features. Cheers to Beth Jones for making such a cool website, any vintage lover can be inspired!

Free People…Love them!
I love every little thing about Free People clothing, so imagine my excitement when they asked me to do a guest blog post! I decided to teach a DIY tutorial on how to make a corset tee with quirky artsy brooch pins, an easy project! I had the most fun ever doing this! More fun than riding roller coasters! More fun than my baby kitty! It was even more fun than Beacon’s Closet on a “good finds” day! You can watch the tutorial and read all about it on their adorable blog!

In my gallery section I have tons more photos! My friend Stephanie was my wonderful model, thank you Stephanie!

Proud of my mom!
My mom, who just had her birthday this week (!), is a wonderful, smart, caring, and generous lady. She is incredibly self sacrificing! I have so many examples that could do a daily blog devoted to it! I am always proud of her (as well as my dad who is also extremely and extraordinarily selfless, kind hearted, and loving), but today I am especially proud of her because she won an art competition where she had to depict something from our area to be used as a post card for the city. She was one of the winners with her watercolor painting of a locally well known sledding hill, a nostalgic memory for many who grew up here or currently have children. Aside from a check, she gets to have her entry painted in a huge mural on the outside of the Post Office Building! I am so happy for her, she really deserves it! I am so fortunate to have two parents who are so wonderful in so many ways!
Here are the two best people in the world as far as I am concerned! By the way, I love my mom’s Geoff McFetridge, “I’m Rockn’ on your dime” T shirt!

Here is a stack of postcards with her painting printed on them, and below, my dad and I were at the gallery reception to support her.

What’s your type?
If you have a little time to spare, take a few minutes to take this personality test. Then once you find out which one of the 16 types you are, click here to read what you probably already know about yourself. Does it sound like you? I got an ISFP and the description could not be more accurate!

The Girl from Ipanema: Brigitte Bardot
After seeing this on youtube of one of my favorite style icons, Brigitte Bardot, I made these on polyvore. I quite like her blue shirtdress, and the simplicity of her high waisted capris with a simple white t-shirt.

A fan of fans?
It’s a shame this accessory has sort of “fanned” out (horrible pun intended). One place it has not is at the Fan Museum in London (who knew?). I think these should come back in a big way…it would be fan-tastically fancy!

The photos are from here!

N.E.E.T. Magazine—Lullie Vintage story
If you are not aware of N.E.E.T. magazine by now, you have been missing out! It is an online magazine showing nothing but grassroots creativity of handmade clothing and crafts, vintage, and other cool unique things. The current issue had the most beautiful spread on ebay vintage dealer Lullie Vintage. I ADORE these colors and the fact these are all vintage clothes!

Michael Alan’s Art
Michael Alan’s current art is of “creatures that are caught in the past, present and the future surviving in a alternate reality”. I love his use of colors and the way these images look both loose and tightly detailed at the same time. Michael also is responsible for regularly creating a draw-a-thon for his fellow artists who want to be inspired beyond the limits of classroom style anatomy drawing. In his own words, “Collaborating with a group of performers, artists, musicians, and art models, we re-cast the traditional practice of figure drawing by adding context and energy by incorporating hand made props, narrative, improve, performance and musical components.“ For more information about this artist check out his website!
