This tee features an awesome illustration my mom, Vicki Lee, drew in 1997 featuring items found on a shelf in her art studio. I loved the eclectic mix of items: dinosaurs, a skull, a human hand, a little black box for photographic slides… this has always been a drawing I liked.
The screen print (printed locally in my home town by Aardvark Screen Printing!) is in black ink on a “vintage white” premium Alternative Apparel “destroyed tee”. I’m excited to share with you some photos my photographer friend Reva May (revamay.com) shot for a Ninkybink look book. The t- shirt featured in these photos is the “Positive Thinking tee” available HERE for $15 The model is Ashley Goodell, and these were shot in downtown Toledo. In the next couple of days I will show you some more photos from her shoot.
It’s inspired by Delfina Delettrez’s design, which costs over $25,000! I think we can find some for a more reasonable price. I’ll keep you posted! I’m looking into getting some of these for my shop soon!

1.) Wildfox Couture sleeveless sweater with a rose pattern - I just love this! I’ve seen it over and over, and every time I’ve wanted to have it. Urban Outfitters has it marked down quite a bit from it’s retail price right now! It’s still kind of on the overpriced side, but I don’t mind splurging on one really cute clothing item once in a while.
2.) BDG high waisted jeans from Urban Outfitters- I have owned some of this brand’s jeans before and I really like them!
3.) This is a really cool jewelry piece I saw on a fashion youtube video, and I think it’s really neat!

As promised! Here is the final result of the dip dyed fuscia hair. I love how it turned out! I thought it would be slightly more on the purple side, but this is perfectly fine with me too.
So how did I do this? It was pretty easy, and I’ll be honest, I had no idea what I was doing.
I knew I wanted hair like in this photo of Abby Lee
So I went to Sally Beauty Supply and picked up this dye: Ion Color Brilliance Brights. It cost about $5 Click here to buy some.
Next I put some of the dye in a disposable plastic lid to a container, and mixed it with about a half dollar sized amount of conditioner. Then I simply just went for it… applied it with my bare fingers about half way down my hair (gloves probably would have been a good idea, but the dye washed off my hands in a few hours.. haha). I wanted it to have kind of a haphazardly faded gradient look, so I just roughly put it on in a way that seemed about right. I put more dye on the ends, than up higher, so it would look ombre faded.
I let it sit for about 45 minutes, then rinsed it really well in the sink with cold water. Luckily my hair stylist friend Laura happened to be online, and made the very important note to make sure it’s rinsed entirely separate so it wouldn’t cast a color on the blonde portion of hair. You’ve got to be really careful the ends don’t fold up and touch the upper hair, or that the colored water from rinsing does not get on it.
So that’s all I did! It was very easy! I hope it will last for a while, but it is semi permanent so I will have to just wait and see.

According to The Wall Street Journal , Betsey Johnson has filed for bankruptcy, and most of her retail stores will be closing. But from what it sounds, the brand is not completely leaving the market, and I’m glad to hear that! I have always been fond of Betsey Johnson’s take on fashion. She doesn’t take it too seriously, she has fun with it, and she does cartwheels at the end of her runway shows. I mean she is a cool lady! She loves the color pink. She loves roses, pin up girls, ruffles, lace, and red lipstick! She should be my fairy godmother or something. Evidence #1, pink car, bright blonde hair, red lipstick:

Some of her clothes are not my taste (i.e. yucky tacky things from time to time), but I do love some of the more delicate looking rose print dresses and pin up inspired pieces.

I’m very excited about this! Here is the first of four (or maybe 5) very high quality tees I am making for Ninkybink’s first “retail - ready” line, which I am developing for Spring 2013! These are printed on the highest quality Alternative Apparel “destroyed tees”, produced ethically. “This too shall pass” is advice my grandma used to give my mom, and my mom gives to me. It comes in handy as a reminder when things are nearly intolerable, to hang in there. It also is a good reminded that when things are good, they might end, so to live in the moment, not taking anyone or anything for granted.
