About

My Photo

Hello! Thank you for visiting the website of my handmade label Ninkybink! I’m Adrianne Lee, a free-spirited, fashion loving, designer/artist/ entrepreneur who’s been independently running and creating Ninkybink since 2002. I put a lot of love into what I do; it’s my creative expression and my passion! The items you will find on my website are created in small runs, or they are one of a kind. I like to make things that I myself would want to wear, so that often means I use vintage buttons, self- illustrated & hand-pulled screen prints, or fabulous fabrics that are hard to find in large quantities. The goal is to create beautiful well-made items that are as lovely as they are special.

Another goal I have is to support local resources whenever possible. If I am going to screen print t-shirts, I find an American source to purchase them from. If I need help, I hire local seamstresses. If I want hummus, I buy it from the local business owner in town. It’s how I like to do business. It’s not always possible in a day in age where almost everything comes from overseas, but when it is possible I go for it!

A little extra about me, for those interested: I graduated in Apparel Merchandising and Product Development, and worked several stints in NYC over the course of several years, interning at Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, and working as a freelance fashion assistant at places like J. Crew. I’ve also worked as a Visual Merchandiser and as Buying Assistant for an upscale privately owned boutique. I'm crazy enough to have run two full marathons barefoot, and odd enough to not own a TV. I love my family, those dear to my heart, and life!

I always love receiving notes and questions do feel free to contact me.

Details About The Fashion

Everything in the boutique, unless otherwise noted, is made entirely by me from design, to construction. I put love into every piece! Often I use details and fabrics that are irreplaceable so therefore the clothing is special, unique, and the only one in the world of its kind! I believe clothing should enhance, not mask, you personal charm and charisma. I try to find something artsy to add to each garment I create, because I like it when things are a bit quirky and cheerful.

I serge the seams for durability, but also often times add hand sewn details so it is recommended the items are gently hand washed.
